Hempitecture Receives $8.42 Million To Invest In a New Hemp-Fibre Processing Plant

Hempitecture of Jerome, Idaho, has obtained $8.42 million from the federal government. The Department of Energy granted the money as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America program.

The Investing in America program aims to revitalise the infrastructure with clean energy. Its objective is to ensure effective collaboration of American farmers, workers, and businesses.

The funds will help construct a new hemp-fibre processing plant in northeast Tennessee. This facility will manufacture building products, packaging materials, and automotive components. The primary focus is on the reduction of carbon emissions. The goal is to achieve 80% lower carbon output during the manufacturing process. This facility will create 25 full-time jobs, paying 15% above the area average.

Hempitecture is focused on creating a sustainable economic model. The Farm to Form model makes certain that all of the hemp fibre will be supplied sustainably. Local farmers will be employing regenerative farming methods in growing hemp. Such techniques are projected to help foster rural economies.

Hempitecture will also employ a sustainable process to create eco-friendly insulating materials. The materials are strong bio composites minus the carbon-negative emissions. Hemp insulation is stronger than bio-based materials. It is also known to provide excellent durability and resilience.

Biodegradable products are gaining traction in the US due to their eco-friendly impact. The new facility in Tenessee is a major step in the hemp industry’s economic development in the US. It will pave the way for new opportunities created by hemp in the green economy.

Hempitecture is dedicated to developing inventive eco-friendly construction techniques. Their operations create additional value, employment opportunities, and prospects of meeting social responsibility. The company’s business focus is to market hemp products throughout the country. The undertaking supports the national strategy for the reduction of carbon emissions.

A deeply passionate innovator, Vishal often draws inspiration from seemingly impossible achievements: “If Elon Musk can make rockets reusable, or Dashrath Manjhi can carve a path through a mountain with rudimentary tools, why can’t we eliminate the demon of single-use plastic while uplifting struggling farmers? We will make it happen—whatever it takes.” Ukhi is proud to be supported by premier institutions including IIT Guwahati, NSRCEL-IIM Bangalore, Indian School of Business (Hyderabad), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR Pusa), and the Indian Institute of Packaging.
