Going eco-friendly was once considered boring but times are changing and people have come to terms with a sustainable life. Hemp is the answer to that, making it a rapidly growing trend in a sustainable fashion.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Why celebrities are the driving force towards sustainable clothing?

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Manufacture of nylon, the most well-known synthetic fiber, began in 1935. It is light, durable, and provides plenty of warmth at a fraction of the cost of wool. Overnight cardigans were thrown away, and polyester windcheaters took over.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][tm_image align=”center” image=”14094″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]We live in a world of glamorous entertainment with celebrities that we relate to or admire. It is human nature to follow in the footsteps of the one admired. These celebrities heavily influence us and while some do not understand this; others take being a celebrity seriously.

Climate change is a very real problem and some are willing to stand and fight for this planet. The United States Department of Agriculture released their 2019 Agricultural Outlook Forum that covered cotton.

Cotton as we know is not a sustainable choice as it requires far more water and cares to survive than hemp does. The Outlook laid out the stats for consumption and production of cotton in the world.

Even with all the proof in place, world cotton consumption increased by 0.9% in 2018-19. The consumption rate is at the highest level since 2007-08. This is where the celebrities come in to vouch for a sustainable livelihood to encourage their followers to accept this change.

The United States recorded 14.1 million acres were used for planting cotton in the year 2018-19. Out of the planted acres, only 10.5 million acres of cotton were harvested in the same year. Imagine the amount of water and pesticides polluting the earth because of this production.

The harms of cotton are echoing across the country, leading to a number of places reducing their cotton production. However, Brazil has increased production while China has kept the same pace.

Celebrities across the planet are endorsing sustainable fashion in hopes that it can stop the cycle of use and throw. Here are some famous people going green with hemp clothing:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

A Hope For A Greener Life

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Hemp has proven time and again that it is one of our strongest forces against climate change. Only 1% of clothes are recycled while the rest is wasted due to poor durability. Hemp is far more durable than any other fabric and does not wear out or shrink like cotton.

The production of hemp fabrics in the U.S. is expected to increase in 2018-19. Statistics by the U.S. Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) records America imported hemp textiles worth $1.9 million in 2017. The data of the same year shows the U.S. also imported 312 tons of hemp yarn.

With the 2018 Hemp Farm Bill, America is scaling towards being the biggest hemp fabric importers in the world. Here’s to hoping all the influencers like the ones above take a greener step towards sustainability.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
