[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The passers-by and even some guests were amazed to see seemingly numerous applications of hemp, a plant that was mistakenly painted as intoxicating for decades. There were apparel, hemp masks, jewelry, pillows, socks, oils, seeds, colored threads, and more. Every single object looked exquisite and intriguing. Guests were eager to get hold of the stuff and feel for themselves what it was like, their faces spelling disbelief how such fantastic things could be made of hemp.
But they were unanimous in support when Mr. Vishal Vivek, the CEO of Hemp Foundation, called on them to join hands in their efforts to promote the culture of sustainable living. He went on to explain how Hemp Foundation came into being and how it was leaving no stone unturned to meet its objectives – to connect the poor women and villagers of the remote Himalayas to the economic mainstream, and make people realize the importance to preserve the environment where they all lived and breathed in.
Could this be a catalyst of change aka revolution?
While the design studio will serve as a one-stop place to showcase all that hemp has to offer, it will serve a greater good by becoming a catalyst of change, or we better say – revolution!
A revolution in the way we all think…our attitude towards the environment. To say the least, the way most of us behave regarding our ecosystem is pathetic. We don’t realize things are getting really serious. If we still fail to make the necessary amendments in our daily lifestyle and take a vow to live a sustainable life, our planet is in a severe danger.
Environmental degradation around is grave
Signs of environmental degradation are visible around. If you just stand up and look, you will be able to comprehend the gravity of the situation. Grave air pollution in the leading cities of the world is threatening to corrode the lungs of the residents. Massive chunks of garbage floating in the waters in the world’s oceans, for instance, The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Much of this garbage is non-biodegradable. 80 percent of plastic found in the ocean arrives from land-based sources, while boats and other marine sources account for the remaining 20 percent. Every minute, a garbage truck’s worth of plastic is deposited into the ocean.
Air and water pollution are just two types of it, and there are many others, all deleterious for human life. Sure, we may not all be responsible for all types of these. However, we need to do whatever we can to prevent the situation from getting worse.
The plastic challenge
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]One of the gravest threats to the world environment is plastic. Chlorinated plastic releases chemicals in the surroundings, which seep into the water sources. By 2050, the amount of plastic in the ocean will be more than fish. According to a report, Bisphenol (BPA), a chemical compound used to manufacture polycarbonate plastics, has been found in more than 90% of Americans tested. Plastic is fast filling our landfills. In 2017 alone, 26.8 million tons of plastic found its way into the landfills.
Hemp can be a potent tool to combat plastic. Hemp plastic, made from the stalk of hemp plants, is a worthy future of plastic. The hemp plant has a naturally high quantity of cellulose, needed for plastic manufacturing. Hemp plastic can decompose in only three to six months, unlike conventional plastic which either never decomposes or takes centuries. Moreover, hemp plastics are easily recyclable as well. Hemp plastics are resistant to heat and non-toxic.
Environmental impact of paper packaging is frightening
Paper packaging is another area where hemp can bring in a difference. The negative environmental impact of conventional paper packaging is frightening. More than 7.5 billion trees are fell down a year to produce paper. Just one kilogram of paper consumes a whopping 323 liters of water. In landfills, paper is the most found material after plastic. The negative impact of these statistics can only be changed if hemp packaging is promoted.

Increasing human settlements have led to blatant consumption of forest resources, resulting in rapid deforestation. There are estimates that this continued destruction of forests might result in the extermination of Amazon rainforests a day, which will be a colossal loss for human civilization. This is frightening as cutting of trees is the single largest cause of global farming.
Hemp is a proven tool to deal with deforestation. There are several reasons which make hemp a perfect tool to prevent the cutting of trees. Hemp creates more biomass than most other plants. This biomass can be transformed into clean fuel. With hemp-generated biomass fulfilling a major chunk of fuel requirement, there will be few reasons for anyone to cut trees. Hemp is also effective in eliminating toxins in the atmosphere. Moreover, hemp can replace the conventional way of producing paper, leaving forests intact.
Restoration of forests will also save so many plant and animal species from extinction. Hemp can do more than doing the improving the quality of forests. Continual sowing of hemp results in better food security, enhanced air and water quality, job creation, climate change resilience, and more. Hemp can indirectly help achieve these ancillary benefits.
Water-guzzling cotton is drying up valuable water resources
Are you aware of how cotton is a major threat to the world environment? Just a single cotton t-shirt soaks up 2700 liters of water! Can you imagine wanton dissipation of the most valuable liquid? Hemp, on the other hand, consumes a negligible amount of water, compared to cotton. When it comes to other features like breathable fabric and comfort, hemp clothes aren’t an iota behind cotton apparel. The time has come to replace cotton clothes with hemp apparel.
Thoughtless exploitation of water and usage of chemicals has wreaked havoc on the ecosystem. The creation of needless dams has led to the turning of mighty rivers like Ganga into mere streams. Hemp can act savior in this scenario, contributing big time to saving these rivers. As you now know, cotton is a massive guzzler of water. Using hemp clothes will substantially bring down water consumption as well as the usage of chemicals as hemp needs a negligible amount of pesticides. Not only will this help in making water clean but will also leave more water in the river.
Existential threat to marine life
Elimination or even reduction in chemicals in river waters will not only give a new lease of life to marine animals but also indirectly benefit human health. Fish is a staple diet of millions of humans around the world. People who consume fish living on chemical-laden water are more likely to develop diseases, even the most deadly ones like cancer. In this globe, none of the species lives in isolation. Saving the fish from the chemicals we have subjected them to will eventually help the human race in the race of survival.

2) We will find the species of plants that suits the local ecology and maintain its diversity.
3) We also plan to name each tree with the name of the person who wants to donate the tree. The trees will also be provided a serialnumber. So, if someone who wants to donate 100 trees, it is named and categorized accordingly. Every singletree will have a name and a number appended at the end.
4) We will also post pictures and videos of every tree planted every year.
